The mild summer of 2008 produced a fine, fragrant Pinot Noir with unusual suppleness and flesh. Black cherry and liquorice flavour dominates over hints of truffle and wet earth, and a long train of super-fine powdery tannin.
Sweet spice and strawberry fruit, with cherry, liquorice and barrel-ferment aromas adding complexity. There is a subtle sappy, foresty character deriving from the use of whole bunches, that adds savour and interest. For our Pinot, the palate is notably soft and silky, with fleshy fruit mid-palate and great length supported by fine tannin.
Fashioned within a savoury, earthy, foresty spectrum, but there is just enough red fruit at the heart of the wine to fully convince. Impressive effort. Rating 92 Drink 2013. (James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion 2011)
