Take a journey through the Majura Valley into Pialligo for the ultimate truffle infused food and wine experience. The day includes a truffle hunt at The Truffle Farm, wine tasting and Truffled Brie at Mount Majura Vineyard and a three course truffle lunch at Pod Food. This event will run on Saturdays and Sundays in June, July and August.
Hunting at the truffle farm - Jayson Mesman owner of the Truffle farm will explain the history of the farm along with how truffles grow and are produced. Jayson will then take you into the farm with one of his amazingly trained truffle dogs, Samson, Simba, Nala or Willow. You will get to see how these wonderful dogs find the truffles and then let Jayson dig them out of the ground.
Wine Tasting and Truffled Brie at Mount Majura Vineyard - a match made in heaven, truffled brie and Chardonnay. The wines at Mount Majura Vineyard are all produced from the vineyard in Majura with its volcanic rock and limestone soils. The winery gets truffle from Jayson and infuses local brie for 48 hours. The soft, earthy cheese is matched with three wines that really compliment it, Sparkling, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. All wines are available for tasting when you are there.
Lunch at Pod Food - this combines the truffles, wines and other local produce for the most inspired local truffle lunch. Pod Food is known for producing some of the most inspired and creative truffle dishes. With many years of truffle dinners, lunches and breakfasts our chefs now know how to get the best from each truffle. A lot of infusing happens many days prior and this is the best way to create delicious truffle dishes. Lunch includes entree, main and dessert as well as a glass of Mount Majura Vineyard wine. They also have an extensive winelist if you would like a little more on the day.
